Hertfordshire’s largest independent bike and e-bike specialist is delighted to be serving the Bishop’s Stortford community after opening its new shop in Potter Street.

Highway Cycles opened its doors to the public on Thursday August 17 and will be celebrating with special deals throughout the rest of the month.

The store, in what was previously Paperchase, will mimic its main Hertford premises by being more than a traditional bike shop, offering a wide range of services including bike repair and maintenance as well as the latest accessories for all levels of rider.

The Stortford shop has a broad range of bikes, focusing on electric and road, with a selection of hybrid and mountain bikes too, as well as popular Frog children’s bikes.

The experienced and enthusiastic team are on hand to guide you to your perfect bike with big-name brands including Trek, Marin, Moustache, Brompton, Riese & Muller, Benno, Tern, and Electra available.

And if the Stortford store does not have the bike you need, it can be quickly brought over from the Hertford premises.

Highway Cycles believes in the traditional values of excellent service and good quality products, and with its emphasis on customer service it is now receiving second-generation clientèle from its original customers.

It aims to provide the highest level of professional service, combining expertise with enthusiasm, and the ability to listen to what the customer really wants. Its dedicated staff are always on hand to offer help and advice when required.

And director Steve Dann, whose father-in-law Mike Pierce founded the business on Enfield Highway in 1978, is looking forward to welcoming new customers having already received a warm welcome when hosting pop-up events in the Jackson Square shopping centre over the last couple of years.

“We really pride ourselves on customer service - we’re not just sales people,” said Steve. “We speak to customers in-depth to find out their needs before trying to match them up with the right model.

“From the first day we held a pop-up in Jackson Square we had a good feeling about Bishop’s Stortford. We knew that what we do would match up with what the cyclists of Bishop’s Stortford need.”

Cytech-certified and Bosch- and Shimano-certified mechanics are on hand in the new shop to keep you and your bike up and running, while shop rides will be organised for like-minded people to get together to go cycling.

Highway Cycles also offers a range of delivery options as well as click-and-collect services to ensure you get your perfect bike.
