Police investigating attempted robbery of delivery rider in Bishop’s Stortford by five teenage boys on bicycles appeal for witnesses and information

Police investigating an attempted robbery of a delivery rider in Bishop’s Stortford today (Tuesday) issued an appeal for witnesses and information.

They particularly want to hear from motorists who were around the railway station on the evening of the crime.

At around 8pm on Wednesday September 18, the rider was riding an e-bike along Station Road when a group of five teenage boys, all on bicycles, approached him.

They shouted at him to get off his bike and then slashed the back of his backpack with a sharp object.

The group made off towards South Street. The victim was not injured in the incident.

The suspects were all wearing tracksuits and balaclavas. One boy was riding a white bike, one a blue bike and the rest dark-coloured bikes.

Det Con Charlotte Bell, from the East Herts local crime unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward.

“The suspects all ran past the train station, where there were a lot of cars around, so I’m hoping someone saw them or has dashcam footage. If you have any information at all, please get in contact.”
