Have your say on Uttlesford draft Local Plan before October 14 deadline

12:00, 01 October 2024

Residents and businesses have just under two weeks to have their say on Uttlesford’s draft Local Plan.

Uttlesford District Council (UDC) is urging people to comment on the document before it is sent off to the Government’s Planning Inspectorate, which will decide whether or not the plan is adopted.

Cllr John Evans, Portfolio Holder for Planning, said: “There are only two weeks remaining of this consultation and this is the final opportunity for people to add their comments before the plan is sent to the Planning Inspectorate for examination. I am urging everyone who wishes to contribute their views to get involved and have their say on these draft proposals.”

The planning blueprint guides where homes and employment sites will go in the district. People can give their views on what is referred to as the ‘soundness’ of the plan – this relates to whether it meets the requirements set out in national policy, guidance and legislation.

The quickest and easiest way to read the draft plan and to provide feedback is via the website: www.uttlesford.gov.uk/new-local-plan.

As well as commenting online, responses can be submitted by email or post using a form which is available from the district council and local libraries. Responses should be sent by email: localplan@uttlesford.gov.uk or by post: Local Plan Team, Uttlesford District Council, London Road, Saffron Walden CB11 4ER.

Paper copies of the plan are also available to view at the district council’s offices in Saffron Walden and at local libraries. Parish councils have been provided with copies and a briefing to be able to assist members of the public. The consultation closes at 11.59pm on Monday 14 October.
