Bishop’s Stortford Community Football Club under-11 Town beat Harlow Town 8-1 in Mid-Herts Rural League
Bishop’s Stortford Community Football Club under-11 Town were 8-1 winners at Harlow Town in Mid-Herts Rural League, Orange Division.
There was a hat-trick for Luis, braces for Hugo and Jack and one goal for Henry.
Oscar Naumburger grabbed a double to help under-11 United beat Lakeside under-12s 3-1 in the Brentwood League.
Harry Wallace joined him on the score sheet as the team got the better of their year-older opponents.
Under-17 Blues also overcame older rivals as they registered a 3-1 victory against Frontiers under-18s in the MHRML Cup.
They took a deserved lead when Charlie Whitrod’s twisting and turning shot from distance dropped in under the bar.
Blues continued to dominate and were in charge by half time as Oli Taylor and Dom Fiddler both scored after nice build-up play.
Frontiers did claim a late consolation, but Blues kept their discipline to ensure a safe passage through to the next round.
Player-of-the-match Sofia Green got a goal and an assist as the under-16 girls beat Evergreen 3-1 in Hertfordshire Girls’ Football Partnership League, Division Two.
The hosts, who were without injured goalkeeper Freya Hooper and had no substitutes, went ahead just before half time when Green finished superbly from long range having been picked out by Holly Penn.
Green turned provider after the interval as her pass led to Poppy Dwyer beating the offside trap and comfortably finding the corner.
Evergreen halved the deficit midway through the second period, but Stortford made sure of the points late on when Sylvia Dolphin-Tsang volleyed in a goal-of-the-season contender from 30 yards.
Under-16 Town returned to winning ways by beating Ware 2-0 in MHRML Division Two.
Will Davidson gave them an early lead with a towering header from a corner.
Town dominated the remainder of the contest, but had to wait until the last 10 minutes to double their lead as Victor Wojcik cut in from the left and found the corner with a low strike.
Under-12 girls Cyans showed their competitive spirit and were unlucky to lose 2-1 at Arlesey in HGFPL Division Five.
They regrouped after falling behind and were denied on several occasions by the home goalkeeper before a brilliant goal brought them level after the interval.
Arlesey restored their lead with just five minutes left and Cyans were denied a second equaliser by a spectacular fingertip save.
