Bishop’s Stortford High School student and 3,000m runner Luke Dunham selected for England Athletics’ Youth Talent Programme
Talented young runner Luke Dunham has been selected for England Athletics’ Youth Talent Programme.
The Bishop’s Stortford High School student, who competes in the 3,000m, is taking the first step on the governing body’s talent pathway.
Dunham, who is in Year 12 in the Beaumont Avenue secondary school’s sixth form, is one of more than 200 athletes and para athletes identified by coaches.
The programme aims to complement club provision and add value to the athlete/para athlete and coach plan to help develop a broad range of skills, abilities and behaviours needed for senior success. It is delivered through practical training sessions with like-minded athletes in their event group, performance support sessions and workshops.
Dunham, who represents Ware-based Herts Phoenix Athletics Club, enjoyed a fine start to the autumn by finishing sixth in the Saucony National Cross Country U17 men’s final having claimed a silver medal when he raced in an England vest for the first time at the School Games National Finals in August.
