City of Cambridge Symphony Orchestra (CCSO) is performing a concert to raise money towards a Bishop’s Stortford man’s cancer treatment.

Jonathan Muggleton has an extremely rare form of cancer, mucosal melanoma, which affects just two men a year in the UK. Having exhausted all treatments available on the NHS, his only option is to travel to the USA for pioneering cell replacement therapy.

Jonathan, wife Rebecca and children, Amelia, 11, and Charlie, 9, were featured recently on Channel 4 documentary series Super Surgeons: A Chance at Life, which showed Jonathan’s journey from diagnosis in September 2020 to ground-breaking surgery this time last year.

CCSO has agreed to support his fundraising campaign by donating a percentage of ticket sales for its concert at West Road Concert Hall in Cambridge on Saturday October 12 (7.30pm).

The programme will include pieces by Rachmaninov, Strauss and Boulanger, with the orchestra being joined by Ely-based soprano Katy Thomson, who is known for her exceptional musicianship and creative curiosity.

Concert tickets, priced £20 for adults, £10 for students and £6 for under-14s, can be purchased online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/city-of-cambridge-symphony-orchestra. Entering the word ‘CHARITY’ in the discount code box when booking will not give a discount but will ensure that £10 for every adult ticket is donated to the Muggleton family’s campaign.
