Take a musical journey through time at Hatfield House
Hertfordshire’s Hatfield House will explore musical time travel during a festival in October.
The four-day event’s theme is “How on one hand everything we hear has a time and a place, while also celebrating how the greatest music manages to be timeless and belong everywhere”.
The 2024 line-up includes newcomers to Hatfield alongside old friends: the Bechstein Piano Trio, the Consone Quartet, Magnus Johnston, Maggie Cole, Gwilym Simcock, Emma Rawicz, Victor Maslov, Max Baillie, Brett Dean, Recordare, Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective, Claire Booth, Ensemble 360, Merryweather Theatre and students from the Purcell School.
The performers promise to transport audiences through the ages, from Dowland to a world premiere of a new Handel/Beethoven/Hendrix commission arranged by Simon Parkin and back to Brahms, pausing en route to commemorate some significant anniversaries for Fauré, Schoenberg and the BBC New Generation Artists.
Artistic director Guy Johnston will be in charge of the event, from Thursday to Sunday, October 10-13.
